Obituary of David L. Rams

David L. Rams, 61, of 359 Fairmount Ave., Jamestown, died at 6:52 p.m. Saturday (March 7, 2015) in the WCA Hospital.
He was born in Lackawanna, N.Y. on December 5, 1953 the son of the late Lawrence and Florence Kropczynski Rams.
Dave worked at Gerinos as a mechanic until he moved to Jamestown to work at Cummins Engine Plant where he retired after 33 years of service.
In 1996 He joined the Sons of the AMVETS where he was very involved serving several terms as Commander. He was instrumental in starting the Son’s chicken BBQ where many referred to him as the “Chicken Man”. Dave also served in various offices for the Sons of the AMVETS Department of NY over the years. He was an avid supporter of our veterans and community.
He spent a few years making clocks. If there was something that needed to be done, Dave would do it. He enjoyed cooking his linguini which became his signature dish. Dave also loved his chicken wings and anything spicy,the more Cajun the better.
Dave loved animals, especially dogs, even the one who ate door knobs. Dave had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh.
Dave was a soft spoken man who never wanted the limelight, but was always happy to sit back and watch others shine. He always made sure to let others know how much he appreciated them.
He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.
Dave is survived by his wife, Patricia “Pat” Ferrino Rams, whom he married on October 16, 1981 in Lackawanna Basicilica, a son, Stephen D. Rams and a daughter, Christina M. Rams, Jamestown, two sisters, Kathleen Such and Beverly McHugh, Lackawanna, N.Y. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received beginning at 11:00 Tuesday, March 10. 2015 until 2:00. prior to the mass in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
