Obituary of Gerald L. Lewis

Gerald L. Lewis, 71, of 177 Maplecrest Ave., Lakewood, N.Y. died at 4:37 p.m. Tuesday (September 21, 2010) in the WCA Hospital. He was born in Buffalo, New York on July 12, 1939 the son of the late Harold G. and Mary Coons Lewis. Gerald was employed as a spot welder for over twenty years at Jamestown Metal Corp. and retired in 1995 due to a disability. He was previously employed at Watson Mfg., Monitor Furniture Co., the ABC Second Hand store on East Second St. and Augie's Garage. He attended the Lighthouse Baptist Church. Gerald was well loved by everyone who knew him and he always had a soft spot for children. He enjoyed woodworking and just hanging out at Don's Car Wash. Survivors include his wife of forty nine years, Beverly Caldwell Lewis whom he married on September 9, 1961 in Jamestown, a son Gerald L. Lewis II, Lakewood, a grandson Andrew John Lewis, Lakewood, three brothers Albert Lewis, Erie, Pa., Harold L. Lewis, Mayville and Joseph E. Lewis, Northeast, Pa., three sisters Mary Carr, South Carolina, Myrtle Carlton and Betty Provenzano, Jamestown.. He was preceded in death by two brothers Roy and Norman Lewis, an infant sister and three sisters Irene, Dolly and Alice Lewis. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday in the Lighthouse Baptist Church. The Rev. Donald V. Erickson, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Bentley Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services and for one hour prior to the funeral service in the church.
