Obituary of Leo R. Haworth

Leo R. "Bob" Haworth, 66, of Hadley Bay, Stow, N.Y. and Naples, Florida, died at 7:02 a.m. Tuesday (July 20, 2010) at his residence. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on December 2, 1943 the son of the late Leo C. and Sally E. O'Keeffe Haworth. Bob was employed with Cleveland Electric Illuminating Company in the management of the power plant construction for thirty years, retiring in 1999. He served with the US Army from 1967 to 1969. His memberships include the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the War Vets and his Naples, Florida memberships include the AmVets, American Legion and the Loyal order of Moose. He was a graduate of Kent State University where he earned All American honorable mention in 1964 as a pitcher for the KSU baseball team. In August he is scheduled to be inducted into the North High School Sports Hall of Fame in Eastlake, Ohio for his excellence in baseball and basketball. Bob was an avid fisherman and reader. Everyone who knew Bob, admired his kindness, patience and gentleness. He was a favorite uncle of his nieces and nephews. His courage in facing his medical issues over the last ten years was an inspiration to all who knew him. Bob's passion and love of nature, positive attitude and willingness to help others was admirable. He will be missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife Catherine Cannon Haworth whom he married on August 17, 1983 and two brothers Ronald F. Haworth, Bluffton, S.C. and Gordon A. Haworth, Perry, Oh.. Fifteen nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a brother Michael P. Haworth. There will be no public visitation. Memorials may be made to the Bemus Bay Pops, P.O. Box 9250, Bemus Point, N.Y. 14712 or to the North High School Sports Hall of Fame, 34041 Stevens Blvd., Eastlake, Oh. 44095.
