Carolyn Dygan Hutley, 88, a resident of the Rouse Warren County Home, formerly of 449 Old Pittsfield Rd., Youngsville, died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday (April 21, 2010) at her residence, after an extended illness. She was born in Monessen, Pa. on April 18, 1922, the daughter of the late Theodore and Mary Ostroska Dygan. She moved with her family to Tidioute, Pa. where she attended school at age five. Hutley on February 1, 1946, in Mayville, N.Y. She attended the Calvary Baptist Church while in Warren and then the EUM Church in Youngsville. Carolyn truly enjoyed gatherings with her children and grandchildren along with her brothers and their families at their hunting camps in Tidioute. After her husband's death in 1982, she spent many weekends in Jamestown, N.Y. with her daughter and she enjoyed traveling to many countries with her. She also enjoyed spending quality time with her grandchildren in Youngsville. Carolyn will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother who loved the outdoors and was known for her "green thumb". She loved spending time in her vegetable garden and tending to her flowers around the house. She was known as a hardworker and one with a heart of gold. She took care of her husband after his stroke for fifteen years before he died. She is survived by a daughter, Pamela Haugner, Jamestown and a son Rick (Annette) Hutley, Youngsville, a grandson Ryan Hutley, the United States Navy, San Diego, Ca. and her granddaughter Connie Hutley, the United States Air Force, Scottsdale, Az., a sister Olga Mitchell, Philadelphia, Pa., a brother Eugene Dygan, Tidioute, and a sister-in-law JoAnn Hutley Tryon, Roseville, Calif. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday at the Hubert-Lewis Funeral Home Inc., Youngsville. The Rev. Marcus Briggs, Rouse Home Chaplain, will officiate.
