Josephine Piazza Grice, 92, of Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing, formerly of 94 Howard St., Jamestown, died at 4:15 a.m. Monday (August 15, 2011) in the nursing facility. She was born in Falconer, New York on January 20, 1919 the daughter of the late Salvatore and Jennie Aiena Piazza. Josephine was employed at the former National Worsted Mills and was a hairdresser. She was a fifty year member of the Henry Mosher Post #638 Auxiliary, where she was a past president. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a former member of the Altar & Rosary Society and a former member of the G.S. Gaeta Club. Survivors include three daughters, Dianna (Tom) Buttafarro and Sandra (Martin) Adams, Jamestown and V. Linda Grice (Christine Gove) Sodus, N.Y., a son J. George (Shelley) Grice, Jr., Jamestown, nine grandchildren Sherrie (Michael) Southwick, Thomas (Shannon) Buttafarro, Jr., Rebecca and Ryan Adams, Stephanie and Matthew Grice, all of Jamestown, Stacy (John) Felton, Lakewood, N.Y., Vicki Adams, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Ashley Adams, Carrboro, N.C., three great grandchildren, Jack, Grace and Ellen Felton, Lakewood, N.Y., five step great grandchildren, Samantha Felton, Portland, Or., Michael Jr. and Matthew Southwick, Alexis and Arielle Lewis, Jamestown, two brothers Samuel Piazza, Palmetto, Fl. and Christopher Piazza, Erie, Pa.. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband John George Grice whom she married on April 1, 1944 in Our Lady of Loreto Catholic Church and who died on December 7, 1977 and by a granddaughter, Kelly Adams, four brothers, Lorry, James, John and Joseph Piazza and by three sisters Lucy and Rose Piazza and Beatrice Hart. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 2:00 p.m..
