Obituary of Leo T. Campbell

Leo "Lee" T. Campbell Jr. Leo "Lee" T. Campbell Jr., 85, of 405 Hebner St., Jamestown, died at 10:08 p.m. Sunday (July 3, 2011) in Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing Facility. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on June 26, 1926 the son of Leo T. and Helen Goodenough Campbell Sr.. Lee was a sales representative for Prudential Life Insurance Company for twenty years, retiring in 1991. He was previously employed at Starr winery. He served with the United States Navy Seabees during WWII from 1943 to 1946 and earned several medals including the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal, Phillippine Liberation and Navy Unit Commendation Ribbons and the Victory Medal. He also served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War from 1950 to 1954. Lee was a member of the American Legion Herman Kent Post #777 and the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and was a former member of Ingjald Lodge #65 Independent Order of Vikings and Moose Lodge #1681. He loved his family, friends and neighbors and got along with everyone who knew him. Lee also enjoyed hiking, bike riding and roller skating with his wife, cross country skiing, fishing with his grandchildren and dancing. Survivors include his wife Providence "Prudy" Calimeri Campbell whom he married on August 6, 1982 in Lakewood, N.Y., three daughters Mary Boorrello, Silver Creek, N.Y., Margo (Bob) Perrello, Fredonia, N.Y. and Amy (David) Trombley, South Dayton, N.Y., four step daughters Linda Brown, Hopewell, Va., Karen (Ron) Schulz, Cheryl (Mitch) Stone, Jamestown and Lisa (Bill) Spaulding, Dover, Pa., twenty grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Martha Reimann, a sister Jane Whelan and a brother Robert Campbell. The funeral service will be held at Noon Thursday in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services. Cathy Smith, Hospice Chaplain, will officiate, followed by a military service conducted by members of America Legion Herman Kent Post #777. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. and for one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqa County, 20 W.
