Obituary of LeRoy E. James

LeRoy E. James Morning on Chautauqua Lake. Visitaion will not be observed. A private family service will be held at a later date. LeRoy E. James, 82, of 1687 Hoag Rd., Ashville, N.Y. began his eternal life at 6:00 p.m. Saturday (June 18, 2011) at his residence. He was born on August 8, 1928 in Ashville, the son of Leon and Lucille Davenport James. LeRoy was employed by the IBOE (International Brotherhood of Operating Engineers) Local #17, Buffalo, N.Y. from 1964 to 1989. He was previously self employed and had operated a sanitation route around Chautauqua Lake. He was a member of IBOE, Busti Men's Club, Big Tree Sportsmans Club, Eagles, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the American Legion Herman Kent Post #777. His passion was carpentry and he enjoyed building and remodeling homes. He also enjoyed talking about his days and antics at Roll-A-Ball in Watts Flats. He spent his retirement years between Ashville and Seffner, Fl.. LeRoy is survived by two sons, Glenn (Kathy) James, Mountain City, Tn. and Darrell( JoAnne) James, Ashville, N.Y., a daughter, Linda (Brian) Kelley, Mountain City, Tn., eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, three brothers Alvin (Jean) James, Anderson, S.C., Clyde (Sandra) James and Lewis (Pauline) James, sister in law Marilyn "Peachie" James, Lakewood, N.Y.. He was preceded in death by his wife Clarene Ralyea James whom he married on September 4, 1948 in Ashville and who died on June 13, 2003 and by two brothers Donald and Walter James and two sisters Dorothy Seeley and Phyllis Barton. Visitation will not be observed. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W.
