Friends will be received on Sunday, June 19th from 3 to 6 PM in the Hubert Funeral Home.The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, June 20th in the Hubert Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Roger E. Peterson, 78, of 61 East Cowden Place, Jamestown, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday (June 17, 2011) in the WCA Hospital.
He was born in Jamestown on August 5, 1932 the son of Arvid and Mildred Waite Peterson.
Roger attended Falconer and Jamestown High School and was employed for the City of Jamestown Parks Department for over thirty years and retired in 1993 as a working foreman. He was previously employed at Dahlstrom Manufacturing.
He served with the US Navy during the Korean War for four years and prior to joining the Navy, he served with the National Guard 174th Infantry, Company E..
Roger was a member of the VFW Post #53, American Legion Henry Mosher Post #638, Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the Vikings Ingjald Lodge #65.
He is survived by his wife Grace DiStefano Peterson whom he married on October 12, 1974 and by two daughters Kimberly Peters and Kathy Vieth, Morongo Valley, Ca., a sister Caryl Swald and a niece Maureen Johnson, Baldwinsville, N.Y..
The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services. Deacon Michael Lennon of St. James Catholic Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m..
