Marietta A. Cutrona Dolce, 79, of Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing, passed away at 12:22 p.m. Sunday (May 30, 2011), after a long battle with Alzheimers.
Marietta was born on August 16, 1931 in Silver Creek, N.Y. the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah Verde Cutrona.
She was a 1949 graduate of Silver Creek High School where she excelled academically and was an excellent artist and musician.
Before her retirement, she was a teacher's aide with the Jamestown Public School System and previously worked for ten years as a bridal concultant with Alice's Bridal Shop and Heart to Heart Bridals, helping many women in the area find "just the right" dress. In her earlier years she also worked as an election official for loal and national elections and volunteered for many children's school programs. She was a communicant of Holy Apostles SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir for twenty one years.
Marietta was a caring and devoted Mom, Grandma (Nana) and Great-Grandmother; she enjoyed traveling and an occasional cruise, but mostly spending time with her family.
Surviving are three children; sons, Jeffrey T. (Patricia) Dolce, Bloomingdale, Il.., Anthony J. (Anne) Dolce and a daughter Karen L. Dolce (Randy Thompson), Jamestown; four grandchildren; Kristin (Cory) Wilhelmi, North Aurora, Il., Captain Thomas Dolce, Fort Campbell, Ky., Amelia and Christian Dolce, Jamestown, a great granddaughter; Hayden Wilhelmi, North Aurora, Il, a niece Sherri (Stuart) Smith, Browns Mills, N.J., with whom she shared a special relationship. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty six years, Anthony G. Dolce, whom she married on August 14, 1954 in Silver Creek, N.Y. and who died on May 9, 2011 and by two brothers Joseph and John Cutrona and a sister Mildred Cali.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday in Holy Apostles SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Dennis Mende, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 5:45 p.m..
