Obituary of Richard Nelson Bird

Richard Nelson Bird Jr., 57, of Ellicott Shores, Celoron, N.Y., died Sunday, June 26, 2016, in Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., following a lengthy illness. He was born June 27, 1958, in Jamestown, N.Y., the son of the late Richard N. and Rosalind P. (Short) Bird Sr. He was a 1975 graduate of Falconer Central School. He had been employed by Westburgh Electric Co. and Nooter Construction Co. of St. Louis, Mo., as a boiler maker for many years. Rick loved his family and friends and had a big heart. Rick was known for his humor and keen wit. He loved fine finish carpentry, motorcycles and photography. Rick is survived by a son, Joshua (Jessica) Bird of Lords Valley, Pa.; a daughter, Chelsy (Joshua) Miller of Albion, Pa.; two sisters: Sylvia (Theodore) Trainer of Lakewood, N.Y., and Vicki (Thomas) Goon of Jamestown, N.Y.; two grandsons: Bryce and Ethyn Miller of Albion, Pa.; and his loving companion, Tina Lynch of Celoron, N.Y. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Richard Nelson Bird Sr. in 2003 and Rosalind Bird in 2011. No visitation will be observed. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
