Obituary of Sara Foti Manera

Sara "Sally" Foti Manera, 97, formerly of 8 Crane St., Jamestown, died at 9:00 a.m. Saturday (January 15, 2011) in Tanglewood Manor. She was born in Westfield, N.Y. on August 14, 1913 the daughter of Anthony and Mary Armeli Foti. Sally attended Jamestown Public Schools and was employed at the former National Worsted Mills and later at Curtis Aircraft Defense Plant in Buffalo, N.Y.. Prior to her retirement, she was a cosmetologist in Buffalo, N.Y. for several years. She also worked at Charm Beauty Salon in Jamestown for several years. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society, sang in the choir and was a volunteer at the annual St. Joseph Table. She also volunteered at St. James Thrift Shop and Heritage Park Nursing Home. She enjoyed bowling, bocci and playing cards with her friends. Her faith and worship of the Lord was a very important part of her life. Sally is survived by four sisters Mary Pinzone, Jamestown, Angie McClure and Josephine Lopresto, California and Joanne DeSantis, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Manera whom she married on July 4, 1953 and who died on November 19, 1976 and by three brothers Anthony, Michael and Sam Foti, four sisters Adeline "Addie" Johnson, Bessie Shreve, Grace Liuzzo and Virginia Wiser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Mausoleum. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services. An Altar & Rosary Society Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 7:30 p.m.. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Tribute Program, P.O.
