Samuel “Chip” Spano, 91, of Warren, Pa., formerly of Florida and Jamestown, died at 10:30 p.m. Friday (July 20, 2012) in Golden Living Center, Warren. He was born in Jamestown on May 10, 1921 the son of Joseph and Grace Salupo Spano. Chip was employed as a clerk in Disney World, delivered Lowry Organs in Cutler Ridge, Fl., owned and operated Uncles Chip’s Pizza Shop, co-owner with his brother Jim of Spano’s Market, both in Jamestown. He also worked at Whirley Industries, Watson Manufacturing and was a greeter at Sams Club for ten years. He served with the US Army Air during World War II and earned the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the American Legion Henry Mosher Post #638 and a former member of the Knights of Columbus and was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. Chip enjoyed playing bingo, going to the casino and dancing and was known as a people person. He is survived by his wife, Beverly Denardi Spano whom he married on July 24, 2001, a son, Joseph Spano, Jamestown, two grandsons, Samuel Spano, Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Joshua A Spano, Jamestown, six step children, a family friend, Victoria Wilson, Jamestown. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Concetta “Connie” Basile Spano whom he married on April 29, 1950 in St. James Catholic Church and who died on April 4, 1998, a brother, James Spano, three sisters, Rose Lanni, Carrie Daniel and Yolanda Cimino. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012 in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Monday, July 23, 2012 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m..
