Sebastian Paterniti, 86, of 67 Steele St., Jamestown, died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday (June 30, 2012) at his residence. He was born in Jamestown on February 8, 1926 the son of Sebastiano and Rosaria Russo Paterniti. He was employed at Jamestown Metal Products as a sprayer and lead man in the assembly department for twenty four years, retiring on March 22, 1990. He was previously employed at Jamestown Sterling and Jamestown Table Co. (Taylor Furniture). He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a former member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and the American Legion Henry Mosher Post #638 and was a current member of the Boys & Girls Club and the Lakewood Senior Center. He was an avid golfer and was in the senior league at South Hills CC and Timber Creek Golf Course. Sebastian served with the US Navy during WWII and earned the Victory Medal, American Campaign and Asiatic Pacific Medal. Sebastian is survived by three sons, Richard (Karen) Paterniti, Richland, N.Y., James (Elvera) Paterniti, Jamestown and Stephen (Bonnie) Paterniti, Charleston, S.C., two daughters, Roseanne (John) Olson, Jamestown and Judy Macri, Las Vega, Nv., twelve grandchildren, James Paterniti, Jamestown, Richard Paterniti, Jr. and Michelle Reis, Florida, Kristine Paterniti, Detroit, Mich., Josh Paterniti, Syracuse, N.Y., Janelle Wickam, Tonawanda, N.Y., Rodney Stanton, Raleigh, N.C., Thomas Paterniti, Florida, David Paterniti, Goose Creek, S.C., Timothy Patrernit, Baltimore, Md., Shawn and Jason Macri, Las Vegas, Nv.. sixteen great grandchildren, a brother, Ross (Marguerite) Paterniti, Daytona Beach, Fl., two sister in laws, Margaret and Frances DeAngelo, Falconer, N.Y.. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary DeAngelo Paterniti whom he married on January 4, 1945 in St. James Catholic Church and who died in 1978. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Anthony, Joseph and Sam Paterniti, and by a son-in-law, Francis Macri, who died January 3, 1993. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2012 in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Internment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday, July 6th, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, and for one hour prior to the Saturday service in the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, N.Y., Erie VA Hospice 135 East 38th St. Erie, Pa. or Jamestown Boys & Girls Club, 62 Allen St., Jamestown, N.Y.
