Anthony J. Bellitto Anthony J. Bellitto, 90, formerly of 284 Ivy St., Jamestown, died Saturday, April 14, 2012, in Heritage Green, Greenhurst. Born Oct. 18, 1921, in Jamestown, he was the son of Joseph and Bessie (LaSeta) Bellitto. He graduated from Jamestown High School in 1941. On June 24, 1961, he married Carmella Basile in St. James Roman Catholic Church. Tony was a member of the International Brotherhood of Painters and Allied Trades for more than 50 years and was a former business agent. He was employed as a painter for many local contractors and most recently worked in the Fredonia Central School District for more than 15 years. He served with the U.S. Navy in World War II and earned the World War II Victory Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the American Campaign Medal. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus Council #926, a lifetime member of the John W. Tiffany Post #53 VFW and a past member of the Lakewood American Legion Post #1286. A communicant of St. James Catholic Church, he was one of the first Acolytes to serve at funeral Masses and was an usher for many years. Tony greatly enjoyed his biannual vacations with his wife and daughter to Las Vegas. He proudly hosted the summer family reunion each year at his home with delicious food prepared by his wife Carm. Tony was an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed rooting for the Buffalo Bills. He was part of a retired group of friends who regularly met for breakfast at Lisciandros Restaurant. Tony took great pride in decorating his home with thousands of lights for Christmas, one year winning first prize. He is survived by a daughter, Toni Ann Bellitto, of Jamestown; a sister, Sally (Sam) Pollino, of Jamestown; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, who died Jan. 14, 2010, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Rosario Bellitto; three other brothers: Peter, Sebastian (Busty) and Ross Bellitto; and a sister, Josephine "Jay" Frushone. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, 2012, in St. James Parish. The Rev. Darrell Duffy will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Jamestown. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17, in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, where a Christian Wake Service will be conducted at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
