Obituary of Anne Pellerito Lamantia

Anne Pellerito Lamantia, 90, of 212 Woodcrest Ave., Lakewood, died at 5:37 a.m. Monday (March 19, 2012) on the Feast of Saint Joseph. She was born in Jamestown on June 23, 1921, the daughter of Salvatore and Maria Pellerito. Anne was a 1939 graduate of Jamestown High School then went to work at Lundquist Hardware as a secretary for seven years, In 1946, she married her childhood sweetheart, Ralph, with whom she celebrated fifty four years of life together. Throughout the years that her children were being educated at St. James School, Anne was actively involved in all school functions and served as PTA president. For twenty two years, from 1961 to 1983, Anne was a medical records transcriptionist at Jamestown General Hospital. After retirement, she transcribed for several local doctors, including Doctors Rappole and Ungerer. Anne was a lifelong communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, where as a member of the Parish, she served a term as the Altar & Rosary Society President, as well as many other committees. Anne sang with the choir for twenty- five years. She prayed for everyone every single day through her daily routine of prayers and rosary. Anne had a special devotion to the Sacred Heart and later in life, developed close ties with the Sacred Heart Parish. Anne enjoyed spending time with her Junior Matrons, a service, social and card playing group of lifelong friends. She LOVED animals, especially her beloved cat, Teena. In the evenings, Anne diligently worked on her cryptograms and crossword puzzles. Anne was always kind, caring and generous. Children and Grandchildren were the core of Anne's focus and were her reason for living. She appreciated her many close friends collected from all phases of her life. Anne is survived by two sons, Ralph "Bud" (Linda Barber) Lamantia, Jr., Busti, David (Anna) Lamantia and a daughter Cathy (Angelo) Cimo, West Ellicott, six grandchildren, Matthew Cimo, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Carrie Ann Cimo, Golden, Co., David P. and Nina S. Lamantia, West Ellicott, Jennica Paterniti, Salt Lake City, Utah and Natalie (Frank) Lisco, Atlanta, Ga.. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph Lamantia whom she married on February 23, 1946 in St. James Catholic Church and who died on March 6, 2000, and by a brother Fred Pellerito and a sister Pam Basile. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Msgr. Joseph M. Dowdell, Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services. An Altar & Rosary Society Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 3:45 p.m..
