Josephine (Johann) Bonfiglio-Nocero, 95, of 611 Fairmount Ave.WE, died at 10:38 p.m. Sunday (December 8, 2013) at the home of her daughter,
Rosemary Stage, in Maple Springs after a six year battle with dementia.
She was born in Jamestown on May 1, 1918 the daughter of the late Sebastian and Rosa Caccamise-Bonfiglio.
Johann was the owner and operator with her husband of Nocero Food Market and Mr. Big Stuff Sub Shop at the corner of Foote and Allen Sts. for twenty five years. She was a Shaklee Distributor and a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church. Johann enjoyed Sunday spaghetti dinners with her family and working outside in her yard. She loved her grandchildren and helped in raising all of them.
She is survived by a daughter, Rosemary (Paul) Stage, Maple Springs,NY, two sons, Russell J. Nocero Jr., Denver, CO. and John M. (Nancy Henderson) Nocero, Cedar Falls, IA.; son-in-law, Gary O. Lawson, Lakewood, NY; five grandchildren, Paul O.Stage II (fiancee, Jordan Pierce), Chapel Hill, N.C., Mathew Stage, Bemus Point and student at SUNY Maritime College, NYC., Kristen E. Stage (Nader S. Geleil), Jamestown, NY, Emily N. Lawson, Lakewood, NY and Kyle (Amanda) Nocero, Cleburne, TX., a great grandson, Tucker Nocero, Cleburne, TX..
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Nocero Sr. whom she married on June 25, 1947 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Niagara Falls and who died on June 23, 1997 and by a daughter, Joelle J. Lawson, who died on February 17, 1996 and by a sister, Carol D. Vickers, Niagara Falls, NY who died on March 28, 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. James Roman Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake service will be held at 6:00 p.m..
