Salvatrice Montagna Cali, 93, of the Lutheran Home, died Monday (September 30, 2013) in the nursing facility surrounded by her family. She was born in Marianopoli, Sicily on May 9, 1920, the daughter of Giuseppe and Teresa Vella Montagna.
Salvatrice was employed as a machine operator at Sanitary Wiping Cloth for over twenty years and was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. Salvatrice was the Matriarch of our family. Her passion in life was to be with her family and raise children that would grow to love God and respect others around them. She
invested all her energy, wholeheartedly, in the lives of her children and grandchildren, always praying for each and every one of them. Her love, dedication and perseverance were her most admirable virtues, recognized by all who knew her. The legacy she leaves will continue to live in us until we see her again.
She is survived by a son, Ross (Flo) Cali, Lakewood, NY, three daughters, Stephanie (Richard) Eimers, Ripley, NY, Teresa (Richard) Clark, Jamestown, NY and Josie (Ross) Tilyou, Carmel, IN. Eleven grandchildren, Denise (Jon) DeAngelo, Jamestown, NY, Tiffany (Rob) Veres, Erie, PA., Michael (Erica) Cali, Jakarta, Indonesia, Andrea (Andrew) Crefeld, Nashville, TN., Rick (Brooke) Eimers and Jessica (Daniel) Cliff, Cleveland, OH., Michelle (Joe) Sidari, Rochester, NY, Amanda (Byran) Trost and Bridgette Tilyou,
Lincoln, NE,Vanessa (Daniel) Rieger, Indianopolis, IN and Sabrina (Ryan) Smiley, Rochester, IN. Seventeen great grandchildren, Laurynn Dillingham, Cleveland, OH., JonMichael DeAngelo and Sienna DeAngelo, Jamestown, NY, Elena and Cecilia Veres, Erie, PA., Aliana and Chiara Cali, Indonesia, Ariana, Naveya and Skylor
Crefeld, Nashville, TN, Charlotte Eimers and Danica Cliff, Cleveland, OH, Logan, Julia, Jackson and Eli Trost, Lincoln, NE and Josiah Smiley, Rochester, IN.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michele Cali whom she married on December 28, 1939 in Marianopoli, Sicily and who died on June 21, 1995 and by two brothers in Argentina and two sisters and a brother in Italy and by three infants.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2013 in the Chapel of the Lutheran Home. The Rev. Daniel Rumfelt, chaplain, will officiate.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the funeral service.
