Obituary of Janet Edwina Anderson Hallberg

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Janet Edwina Anderson Hallberg, 83 of Lakewood died at 10:14 a.m. Monday (December 1, 2014), at home, surrounded by her family, following a brave battle with cancer. She was born July 27, 1931 in Jamestown General Hospital, the daughter of the late Edwin and Gerda Hallin Anderson. She graduated from Jamestown High School in 1950, after spending nearly a year in Sweden starting in June of 1946. She had been employed at Union Trust Company as a secretary to the branch manager, which later joined Chautauqua National Bank on the corner of S. Main and 2nd Streets. She married Richard Warn Hallberg on October 18, 1952 and they recently observed their 62nd wedding anniversary. They built their own home in Lakewood in 1955 and they lived there until the time of her death. Janet was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 16, 1960 in Washington, DC and she really did enjoy the door to door ministry, meeting some very interesting people! Perhaps she called at your door! She is survived by her husband, Richard, one son, Kurt (Sarah) Hallberg and a grandson, Alexander all of Lakewood. 6 Cousins: Marit Laretei, Lena Ericsson, Bernt and Ulf Abrahamsson, Christer Eldh and Gunilla all of Sweden, a second cousin, Nancy Stromdahl Wilson, and a very dear friend, Mary Ann Fogelberg Bollman, both of Jamestown, as well as all her dear and caring friends at the Kingdom Hall on Baker St. Ext, and also the South and East Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Martin Road. She also wishes to thank Hospice of Chautauqua County for their wonderful care during her illness. We all have the hope of the earthly resurrection when all of Jehovah God’s promises will start to be fulfilled through his son, Jesus Christ as he rules God’s Kingdom government for 1,000 years. Friends will be received at the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services on Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Kingdom Hall, 3454 Baker St., Ext. on Sunday, December 7 at 4:00 p.m. Tom Pacos, of the Dunkirk Congregation will officiate. Inurnment will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chautauqua County, 20 W. Fairmount Avenue, Lakewood, the West Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 3454 Baker St. Ext., Jamestown, or the Lakewood Volunteer Fire Company, 37 J.W. Packard Blvd, Lakewood. Immediately following the service, friends are invited to a luncheon at the Lakewood Fire Co. training grounds at 116 Pleasantview Ave., Lakewood.
