Jose A. Ramirez, 66, of Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing, died at 5:15 a.m. Sunday (June 8, 2014) in the nursing facility.
He was born in Larus, Puerto Rico on January 24, 1948 the son of Jose and Jenerosa Rios Ramirez.
Jose served in the United States Marine Corp from 1967 to 1969 and earned the rank of Corporal. He earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
He is survived by four sons, Francisco (Frank) Ramirez,Sierra Vista, Az., Tony Ramirez, Buffalo, N.Y., Benjamin Ramirez, Jamestown and Junior Ramirez, Silver Creek, N.Y. and by two daughters, Carmen Ramirez and Maria Ramirez, Jamestown, several grandchildren, three brothers, Efrain (Toby) Ramirez, Rahway, N.J., Jose Ramirez, Union Beach, N.J. and William Ramirez, Union, N.J., two sisters, Mirty Munoz, Union, N.J. and Carmen Santana, Linden, N.J..
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services.The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor of St. James Catholic Church, will officiate.
Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
