James “Doc” A. Trusso, 85, of 1732 Park Meadow Dr., Jamestown, formerly of Water St., died at 4:10 P.M. Tuesday (April 8, 2014) at his residence. He was born in Jamestown on September 27, 1928 the son of Sebastiano and Sarah (Rose) Agostino Trusso. Jim was employed as a welder ( repairing railroad tracks ) for the Erie Lackawanna Railroad, which became Conrail, from 1952 to 1990. He served with the US Army from 1950 to 1952 and with the army reserves until 1956. He earned the Army Occupation of Germany Medal. He was a member of the VFW Post #53, the American Legion Herman R Kent Post #777, the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club and he was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church. In his youth, Jim played baseball for the Boys Club and softball for St. James Church in the Inter-Church League and basketball with the YMCA Basketball League. He was an avid bowler and golfer. He is survived by three nieces, Nancy (Tony) Petruccello, Busti, Theresa (Robert) Sisson and Rosemary (Donald) Nelson, Gastonia, N.C., a nephew, James (Marina) Calavitta, Jamestown. Several other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by a sister, Rose Calavitta and a nephew, Phillip Calavitta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Internment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
