Obituary of Carrie Perfetto Parla

Carrie Perfetto Parla, 95, formerly of 32 Prospect St., Jamestown, died at 10;25 a.m. Tuesday (February 25, 2014) in Heritage Park Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was born in Farrell, Pa. on August 1, 1918 the daughter of Anthony and Carmela Puma Perfetto. Carrie was employed at the former National Worsted Mills, Spud Nut Shop, the Cake Shop, Hotel Jamestown (where she meant Lucillle Ball) and Sanitary Wiping Cloth. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and helped with the annual St. Joseph Table. She also volunteered at the St. Susan Kitchen. She was passionate about raising a family in a land without war, so following WWII, she was the first of her family to emigrate to the United States. Her brother and sisters followed and she was happiest when her family was all together in America. Carrie is survived by a son, Peter (Pam) Parla and a daughter, Louise (Bill Fink), Jamestown, ten grandchildren, Royce (Jan) and James MacIntyre, Jamestown, Charles (Pam) MacIntyre, Treasure Island, Fl., Patrick (Janet) MacIntyre, Pittsburgh, Pa., Lisa Parla, Dunkirk, Keri (Vito) Granata,St. Louis, Mo., Adam (Allison) Parla, Chicago, Il., Audrey (Neil) Young, Doyleston, Pa., Salvatore Search, West Palm, Fl. and Charles Search, Huntington Beach, Ca., eleven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Parla whom she married on June 9, 1935 in Canicatti, Italy and who died on July 24, 1987 and by a daughter, Carmela Search and a son, Anthony Parla. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Saturday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 2:45 p.m. You may send condolences to the family by visiting www.hubertfuneralhome.com.
