Obituary of Anthony Calabrese

Anthony “Tony” Calabrese, 69, of Jamestown, died Sunday (August 23, 2015) in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Erie, Pa. He was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 29, 1945 the son of Roy and Nicolina Crassi Calabrese. Tony was a self-employed contractor and in earlier years he was the owner and operator of the Four O’Clock Club. He served in the Vietnam War with the US Marines from 1964 to 1968 becoming a sergeant. He later spent twenty years with the National Guard and was active in many of the local area AMVETS. He earned the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Falconer Rod & Gun Club. Tony loved socializing, was always ready with a humorous quip, and will be missed by his many friends and acquaintances throughout Jamestown. Tony is survived by three daughters, Gina Burford of Benecia, CA, Tonya Morrison of American Canyon, CA, and Nichole Calabrese of Jamestown as well as three grandchildren, a brother, Joseph C. (Flora) Calabrese of Wilmington, Delaware, and his friend, Jessica Keeler. Several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Catherine Bendo of Baldwinsville, NY and his companion Sandy Taylor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell Duffy, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends will be received on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Memorial donations may be sent to St. James Catholic Church, 27 Allen St, Jamestown, NY 14701.
