Obituary of Richard S. Becker
Please share a memory of Richard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Richard S. Becker, 45, of 2908 Burton Road, Busti, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, May 4, 2015. He was born June 20, 1969, in Jamestown. Rich grew up in West Ellicott and attended Southwestern schools. As an adult, he lived in many states and had many different jobs, but he was especially skilled at laying ceramic tile.
Rich’s passion, however, was music and he enjoyed all aspects—playing it, talking about it, and listening to it. In the last year, Rich’s dream of “playing out” came true as he played some memorable shows at Mojo’s in Jamestown.
Rich will be remembered as a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was always ready for an adventure and enjoyed making new friends.
Rich is survived by his wife, Sara (Smith) Becker, whom he married September 15, 2007; his daughter, Bo Lorraine Becker of St. Louis; his mother and step-father, Shelley and Milt Swanson of West Ellicott; his sister, Laurie (James) Godfrey of Falconer; and his grandmother, Inga-Brit Swenson of Jamestown.
Rich was predeceased by grandparents and his niece, Lisa Becker.
A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.
A celebration of Rich’s life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at Mojo’s, 104 East 2nd Street, Jamestown, at 3:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and share their memories of Rich.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Chautauqua County Humane Society or the Infinity Music Program in Jamestown.
The Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
