Obituary of Josephine Vella Capestrani

Josephine Vella Capestrani, 97, of 225 Linwood Avenue, Jamestown died at 3:00 p.m. (Friday), April 3, 2015 in Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing. She was born February 7, 1918 in Barnesboro, PA (now called Northern Cambria, PA), the daughter of the late Anthony and Vincenza (Paranella) Vella. She married Dino Capestrani in 1953 in Hamilton, Ontario. Josephine worked at the National Worsted Mills, The Art Metal Company of Jamestown and retired from Truck-Lite in 1982. With her husband Dino, and their two sons, they opened Dino’s Pizzeria in 1974, which they ran for 10 years. She also belonged to the Marco Polo Club and was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Josephine will be remembered as a devoted wife, as well as a caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, bake and enjoy her grandchildren. Her family says she had the best homemade pasta in Jamestown. She is survived by her husband, Dino Capestrani; two sons, Pierre Capestrani and his wife Cindy of Jamestown and Dino Capestrani and his wife Lynn of Butler, PA; five grandchildren, Jennifer Lisciandro, Michael and Mikayla Capestrani of Jamestown, Katy Capestrani of Columbus, OH and Kelly Capestrani of Butler, PA. and two great grandchildren, Isabella and Sammy Lisciandro of Jamestown. She is preceeded in death by her mother and father, her sister Mary Cimino and two brothers, Frank Vella and Sam Vella. Friends may call at the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 111 S. Main Street, Jamestown, New York on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 4 to 8 P.M. where a vigil service will be conducted at 7:45 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at St. James R.C. Church with the Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, Pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to St. James R.C. Church, 26 Allen Street, Jamestown, New York 14701.
