I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Janice Alice Rial. Although she was not on social media hardly at all, she enjoyed staying in touch with friends and family the old fashioned way, with thoughtful letters, cards and phone calls. She was lover of languages, animals, singing in the choir, the Hallmark Channel, The Waltons, and Little House on the Prairie. Some of our most interesting conversations revolved around these themes. I have a voicemail from her from Dec 11, which is just a few days before she passed. She did not sound sick, and I truly regret I did not call her back, since she has now passed away. My heart is heavy, and I want to express my deepest condolences to her daughter Natasha, and all her brothers and sisters, and grandchildren. May the Lord wrap his loving arms around you all at this time.

On New Year’s Day, January 1st, 2024 I was awakened from a dream where that song that we all know that echoes Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (To Everything There is a Season) was playing loudly in my sleep. I awoke still recalling that song and knew that the Lord was speaking to me through that dream, although I did not know that the time to mourn would hit me and my family in such a devastating way. None of us were prepared for the news that came on December 16th, 2024 that my dear, precious sister, Janice had left this world and is now in the glorious presence of our Savior.
Janice was incredibly beautiful and intelligent, blessed with many gifts. She made friends everywhere she went, some of them were life-long friends. Janice had quite a sense of humor and over the years we have all quoted her many times! She inspired me to read and to learn. I developed a love for books because of my sister (and currently have a library of thousands of books)! Janice had great character. She positively impacted the lives of everyone she met. She was more brave than most, loved a good adventure and she lived with a certain God given grace. Above all, she was kind, good and so very thoughtful, living a life of prayer. I could not possibly list all of the good things about Janice. She loved us all and we all loved Janice so much! We are all so very sad. This is a great loss to all of us.
Janice and I attended Northern Arizona University together (from which I have recently retired). She was a great teacher. She enjoyed hiking the old west, making new friends along with her precious daughter, Natasha, who she adored. She often spoke so highly of her daughter, Natasha and her grandchildren, Grace and Nicholas, how much she loved them and how proud she was of all of them. She loved her whole family, along with all of her nieces and nephews and she loved all of her many pets.
It has been a privilege and an honor to have Janice for a sister. She had a profound influence on my life. Even though our hearts are all broken, Janice will live on through the hearts of all of us that loved her so very much.

I will miss my sister for the love she had for our family.
Janice was intelligent, loved family, books, music and all animals. Staying close with us was very important to her. We all love and miss her.
