Please share a memory of C to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
C. Charles “Chuck” Crankshaw was born on October 18, 1937 in Muskegon, Michigan and passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on November 13, 2024 in Greenhurst, New York surrounded by his family. Chuck was a loving son, cousin, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, friend and a devoted man of God with his strong faith and love for Jesus Christ. Chuck was an only child of Cecil & Bernice Crankshaw and grew up near his cousins where he formed a strong family bond that he cherished and loved. Chuck’s family was his pride and joy with whom he spent every free moment. Chuck retired from the United States Air Force in 1984 as a highly decorated Master Sergeant after serving 25 years as a Defense Aerial Gunner, Aircrew Instructor and Flight Examiner. After retirement, Chuck spent 40 years enjoying life with his family and friends. He loved golfing, boating, water/snow skiing, fishing, hunting, restoring lake homes, bon fires, card games, buying random new toys, browsing the web daily for a new car, and watching his favorite college football team, the Michigan State Spartans. What brought Chuck the most joy was spending time with his family. He traveled across country with the love of his life Cheri, visiting family any chance he could, including cheering his youngest grandson Paul at all his hockey games for over 15 years. During the last 3 years, Chuck lived in an assisted living residence where he immediately made many friends and was voted President of the Residents Council. Chuck is survived by his loving wife Cheri of 59 years who he adored. They were an amazing couple with a true love story. Chuck is also survived by his children, Jeffrey Crankshaw, Julie (Scott) Witter, Scott (Patty) Crankshaw, and Jodie (Paul) Cartone. Grandchildren Christopher (Anna), Brandon (Kari), Shanelle, Colby (Ashley), Kyle, Dayne (Abbi), Terah (Jon), Joshua, Nathan (Megan), Felicia (Chris), Mickey, Paul and Nina. Great Grandchildren Lindsay, Aidan, Jasmine, Leland, Dylan, Collin, Coral, Alexys, Kiara, Brooklyn, Joshua, Emmy & Layla. Preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Charles Sr. and Bernice. Arrangements entrusted to Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home. A memorial mass with military honors will be held on Saturday, November 23rd at 9:00am at Newman Center at UB, 495 Skinnersville Rd, Amherst, NY 14228. Please join Chuck’s family in a celebration of life and all his wonderful accomplishments. His legacy of warmth, dedication, and integrity will be remembered by all who knew him.
