Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Mary A. D’Angelo, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024 at the age of 95, in UPMC Chautauqua. Mary experienced a beautiful and exciting life, born May 11, 1929 to parents Carl and Nicholina (Armeli) Calanni. She was a lifelong resident of Jamestown, NY, graduating from Jamestown High School, and employed by Jamestown Public Schools as a teacher’s aide for 20 plus years. In addition to her love of working with children, during that time period she met many forever cherished friends, who enjoyed shopping, books, and traveling together. Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John (Jiggy) D’Angelo in 2002, a son, Steven D’Angelo in 2019, and five siblings: Carm D’Angelo, Jay Mazzone, Sally Agliolo, Angeline Hale, and Peter Calanni. Mary is survived by a brother, Sebastian Calanni, children Carol Rasmussen, John (Donna) D’Angelo, grandchildren John (Kelly MacGowan) Rasmussen, Krista (Thomas) Milone, Michele (John) Partica, and Christy (Brian) Estes. Also surviving are great grandchildren, Alyson, Sofia and Jacob Dalton, and Van Tutwiler. Many loving cousins, nieces and nephews complete her family. She was a faithful communicate of St. James Parish, where she served as a Eucharistic Minister, and an active member of its Altar & Rosary Society, playing a major role in parish events, and services. Living a vibrant life, Mary enjoyed traveling with friends and family, with a special trip to Italy meeting new found relatives. During her lifetime, she enjoyed her golf leagues, tennis leagues, book club, and card club groups with friends. She loved watching sports; including golf, football and the Yankees. Not surpassed by attending all her children and grand children’s events with pride in her eyes. It’s no surprise that Mary will be remembered for welcoming everyone to her home where they experienced wonderful meals and good conversation. Her baked goods were famous. She adored her family, and will be remembered for the love she gave to her children, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. She adored her family, and never hesitating to show her love. Expressing our gratitude to the 4th Floor UPMC staff for the comfort care received, and her wonderful neighbors, with whom she shared many enjoyable porch sitting conversation days. Touching the lives of all that knew her, we will miss her presence, advice, and love. Always in our hearts! Friends will be received on Monday, July 15, 2024 at Riccardi’s (Hubert Funeral Home), 111 South Main Street, Jamestown, NY from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. James Parish, Jamestown, NY at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 16, 2024.
