Josephine Triscari, 90, of Jamestown passed away on Monday December 4, 2023, in Heritage Green surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 22, 1933, in Tortorici, Sicily, Italy daughter of the late Carmelo and Genoveffa Barbagiovanni Bevacqua. After attending school in Italy Josephine emigrated to Jamestown, NY in December 1960 with her husband and three children. She along with her family embraced their new country, attending evening classes to learn English. In five years’, time they all became proud U.S citizens.
Josephine worked at Sanitary Wiping Co. for many years and then for Chautauqua Hardware as a machine grinder. She retired in 1985 due to severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. Despite her Arthritis, Josephine was an avid cook and baker. She enjoyed having the family over twice a week for dinner and always insisted on feeding anyone who came to visit. She always had a freezer full of the delicious Italian cookies she lovingly baked for family and friends. No one ever left her house without a dish of her wonderful cookies. Josephine loved to teach her children and grandchildren how to cook and bake. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her whole world. There was not anything she would not do for them.
Josephine was a communicant of St. James RCC where in her earlier years she was an active participant of the St. Joseph’s Table, celebrated in March of every year. She volunteered in the kitchen, cooking spaghetti and donating baked goods.
