Charles J. Volpe, 66, of Jamestown passed away August 4, 2023 unexpectedly at home following a short illness. He was born in Jamestown, NY on November 7, 1956, the son of Angelo J. "Screech" Volpe Sr. and Mary Conti Volpe. Charles was a 1974 graduate from Jamestown High School. Formerly employed by Webber Knapp and Advanced Chemical in Cranston, Rhode Island as a compliance officer before retiring in 2019 and returning home to be the caregiver for his mother, Mary.
He always had a joke and a smile, had everyone laughing. Aside from spending time with his family and telling stories, Charles was an avid softball player with his childhood friends, playing for Fudge's Sub Shop softball team, an accomplished golfer participating for many years in the Italian-American Golf Tournament and was a member at South Hills Golf Course, with his brother Angelo as his partner. He liked bowling and was a member of the team that rolled the first 3500 series in Jamestown, which at that time was the city record. Charles enjoyed horse racing and spending time at the OTB with his good friend Dan Crasti. Even at one time owning his own harness race horses, which ran at Batavia Downs and Buffalo Race Way.
Surviving, are his mother, Mary, Brothers, Anthony (Jolanta) of Florida, Thomas (Lisa) and Angelo (Victoria), both of Jamestown, and Sister-in-Law, Marlene Volpe. Nephews Michael and Steven Volpe, both of Buffalo, NY. Nieces Stephanie Volpe Smith (Lee) of London England, and Gina Volpe of Jamestown, and Great-Niece Sela Smith.
He was preceded in death by, his father Angelo, sister Esther, and brother Peter.
Family & friends will be received at Riccardi's Hubert Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 from 4 p.m. to 7p.m.
A funeral service to be held Wednesday August 9, 2023 7pm at the Funeral Home.
