Barbara Louise (Mills) Lissfelt, 93, of Jamestown, New York, passed away on February 16, 2023 in Westfield, New York. Barbara was born at Niagara Falls, New York to Stanley Frederick Mills and Grace Harraden Sargent on October 9, 1929. She graduated from West High School in Rochester. On April 8, 1950, Barbara married Erik Lissfelt, whom she had met as a child, in Rochester. After raising her family, Barbara achieved a personal goal of attending a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from SUNY at Fredonia. She held several jobs that included working for the City of Jamestown and Chautauqua County. She was proudest of a Directory of Chautauqua County Artists she was hired to research and compile. Barbara’s greatest passion was water color painting and giving art lessons. Barbara received many awards for her artwork. She was a long-time member of the Chautauqua County Society of Artists, Zonta Club, American University of Women, PTA, and St. Luke’s Church. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Erik Lissfelt, a son Erik S. Lissfelt (Debbie), as well as siblings John F. Mills, Grace E. (Mills) Spencer, and Mary (Mills) Gardner. Barbara is survived by daughters Judy Botts (James), Diane Lissfelt (Gloria Louder, partner) sons John Lissfelt (Mary) and Christopher Lissfelt, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Inurnment will be at St. Luke’s Church columbarium in Jamestown, New York. Arrangements are by Hubert Funeral Home. Reverend Luke Fodor, Rector of St. Luke’s Church, Jamestown, will officiate. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. The family of Barbara wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Absolute Care of Westfield for their devoted and compassionate care.
