Josephine (Winiarski, Estus) Whalen, 94 of Lakewood, NY passed away January 24, 2023 with family by her side. She was born April 2, 1928 to the late Joseph and Mary Winiarski in Buffalo, NY. The beloved wife of the late Edgar Estus, until his death in 1962, Josephine was married a second time to Robert Whalen (also deceased). She was an honored and devoted mother to nine children: the late Edgar (Pat) Estus Jr., Karen (late Frank) Trusso, Linda (George) Ferver, the late Gail Grekulak, Debra (Don) Estus, the late David (Jackey) Estus, Richard Whalen, the late Robert Whalen, and James (Aletha) Whalen. She was the cherished grandmother of 24 grandchildren and dozens of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Survived by two sisters Gertrude (late Henry) Wojdan and Rosemarie (late Lance) Pearson, she was pre-deceseased by sisters Frances (late Floyd) Serwinowski, Joann (late Frank) Adamczyk, and Mary Ann (late Frank) Silleman. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Monday, January 30, 2023 at Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home in Jamestown, NY followed by burial at VIllenova Cemetary, Balcoms Corners, NY.
