Samuel Gertsch Obituary

Samuel Earl Gertsch, 70, of Jamestown, NY passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 21, 2022. He was born December 5, 1952 to Arthur Roger Gertsch and Marion Leona Johnson in Warren, PA. Sam graduated from Warren Area High School in 1970, served in the US Army, then served in the US Air Force as a computer systems specialist. He earned a certificate in electrical engineering from Erie Institute of Technology in 1981. He loved his children, grandchildren, his beagle Trixie, and the Buffalo Bills.

He is survived by his son Kevin, and daughters Mindy and Gloria Gertsch, and his brother Tom and sister in-law Dot.

He is preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth, Daniel, and Lawrence, and his daughter Valerie.

Sam especially enjoyed the beauty of nature. He loved forests and visiting state parks, seeing the leaves change in autumn, watching sunsets, and looking at the stars. He had a lifelong passion for photography and a deep appreciation for music, art, writing, animation, tv and movies. He always spoke his mind and wouldn't let a language barrier prevent friendship. He strived to create unique experiences rather than simply buy things. He was a loyal and devoted friend whose sense of humor and candid honesty will be missed.

Arrangements entrusted to Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home.

The family would like to honor Sam's wish to gather at the Kinzua Dam to share memories at a future date.
