Samuel T Triscari 98, formally of Howard Street Jamestown NY, passed away Thursday November 24, 2022 at Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center, Jamestown NY. A lifelong area resident, he was born July 11 1924 at home on Victoria Ave, “the lost neighborhood” to the late Thomas and Josephine Triscari. He attended Jamestown High School graduating in 1943, before being drafted into the Army-Air Corp in WW2. He served state side in Miami Beach FL as Private First Class. He married Josephine (Jay) Gonnella on June 9, 1951 at St. Stephens Church on Grand Island NY. They spent the next 47 years together until her death in January 1998. Sam is survived by 4 children, Daniel (Ana), of Redondo Beach CA., Maryann Laska of Jamestown, Diane (Gary) Sharpe of San Diego CA, and Samuel (Heather) of Ashville, NY, and a nephew Thomas (Terrie) Triscari of Falconer. Four grandchildren, Danielle (Ryan) O’Conner of Jamestown, Steven (Taylore) Laska of Jamestown, Samuel Sharpe, of San Diego, and Lauren Triscari of Redondo Beach. Five Great grandchildren, Collin, Liam and Wyatt O’Conner of Jamestown. Luna and Atlas Laska of Jamestown. Besides his parents and wife Jay, he was proceeded in death by his brother Sebastian “Foggy” Triscari, sister-in-law Carrie Triscari, and niece Jomarie Kaiser. Sisters in Law, Mary Camillo, Ann Favale, and brother-in-law Sam Gonnella. On returning to Jamestown, he briefly worked at the former Maddox Table Company before going to work at JP Danielson Co., later to be known as Proto Tool Company for the next 43 years. He was the tool crip manager for Proto Tool for over 30 years until their closing. He was a charter member of the local IAM Union serving as all officer positions throughout the years. After the closing of Proto Tool, he worked for almost 2 years for the salvage company who purchased the remaining material and equipment. He would joke that he was literally the last person to leave the building as he closed and locked the door behind him, ending a career of close to 45 years at one facility. Sam loved to garden and doing yard work. He was outside more than in. He took pride in being the first person to mow his lawn after winter. He always had a wonderful garden which he had well into his eighties. He was always happy to give away his vegetables to family and friends. If he wasn’t outside in the yard, you could find him sitting on the porch reading or doing Cash Word scratch offs. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and later with their children. There was always a little kid running around the house at some time or another. Sam and Jay enjoyed traveling with their friends the Giordano and Cala families to Miami Beach, Myrtle Beach, Thousand Islands and Las Vegas. He loved to read and always had at least one book by his recliner or night stand. He played in various senior golf leagues at Timber Creek and Willow Run until he was 80 years old. In his younger years he enjoyed softball and was a member a various bowling leagues in the Jamestown area. He was a member of St. James Roman Catholic Church, social member of the VFW of Jamestown, and a member of the American Legion of Falconer.
