Obituary of Cheryl A Smith

Please share a memory of Cheryl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cheryl passed away unexpectedly on September 17th 2022 at the age of 71. A lifelong resident of Jamestown, she is survived by her husband Ralph D. Smith, whom she married on October 6, 1984. She is also survived by her brother Randall Ericson of Jamestown, NY, and two sisters Juanita Ericson of Erie, PA, and Rita Sword of Jamestown, NY. She is also survived by three nieces, Teresa (Raymond) Siperek of Royston, GA, Erica Ericson of Jamestown, NY, and Jessica (Joel) Mathew of Westbury, NY. and a great-niece, Geneva Ericson of Jamestown, NY. She was preceded in death by her parents Gloria J. Stewart Ericson and Jerome H. Ericson, and her brother Dana Tim Ericson. Her husband Ralph loved, adored, and cherished her. Together they enjoyed craft shows, country rides, decorating their home, and watching Hallmark Movies. They liked hosting family gatherings in their home, and always had a reason to celebrate. Cheryl was gifted at creating things with her hands. Over the years she tatted, counted cross stitch, as well as painted ceramics. She also enjoyed road trips and shopping. Cheryl took great pride in being an aunt, and passed down her passion for crafting through them. She referred to herself as "A Professional Aunt", and she loved being with her nieces. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her nieces and was always a reliable, supportive presence in their lives. She would take her nieces to movies often (sneaking in popcorn of course), and they would have sleepovers. She taught them how to bake and decorate Christmas cookies, paint pumpkins, and made every holiday special. Cheryl had a vibrant personality, and if you knew her, you felt loved. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, or holiday. Often times sending her family handmade cards. The memories she left behind are a gift, and she will be greatly missed by those who loved her.
