Obituary of Sarah Lamantia

Sarah Lamantia, 96 of Jamestown passed away February 6, 2022 at Lutheran Home. She was born January 29, 1926 in Jamestown a daughter of Sebastian and Maria Contiguglia Malone. After graduating Jamestown High School class of 1945 Sarah went to beauty school where she earned her beautician’s license. She worked as a beautician until her retirement. Sarah also worked as a desairologist for Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home, was employed at Worsted Mills and at Super Duper for 33years. Sarah married her husband Frank Lamantia on September 4, 1950 in St. Johns RCC. She was a fantastic baker, known for her cookies and cannolis. Sarah was an important part of the St. John’s Italian Festival for many years. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren very much. Sarah will be deeply missed. Sarah is survived by her daughter, Marie (David) Peterson of Jamestown, her grandchildren, Francis (Shawna) Peterson of Rochester and Lindsey (Christopher) Eklund of Rochester, her great grandchildren, Wyatt, Lilia and Blake Peterson all of Rochester, and her sister, Mary (Joseph) Chiarilli of Rochester. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. Sarah was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 2007, her parents, and her siblings, Rose and Josephine Malone, Anna LaMonica, Grace Siracusa and Jack Malone. Visitation will be held Tuesday February 8, 2022 from 3pm-6pm at Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be Wednesday February 9, 2022 10am at Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home.
