Obituary of Jack Caruso
Jack Caruso, 81 of Jamestown passed away peacefully with his daughter holding his hand and son in law by his side on December 13, 2019 at UPMC Hamot. He was born March 5, 1938 in Canicatti, Italy the son of Antonino and Rosaria Caruso.
In 1959 Jack moved to Toronto Canada to start a new life. He lived with his brother Ed and his family. In 1965 he moved to Jamestown, NY and later became a U.S citizen.
Jack married his wife Ann Buttafarro Caruso who passed away May 3, 2018 on November 27, 1965 at St. James RC Church.
He was a factory worker his whole life. He worked at Cresent Tool, Falconer Glass, and Bush Industries, retiring in January 2008. Working hard for his family was his priority. Jack provided a good life for his family. He wanted to make sure his wife and especially his daughter would never have to know what is like to go without.
Jack loved his history. He would often tell stories of being 4-5 years old in Italy during World War II. The U.S soldiers told his town to leave because there was to be a bombing. Jack and his family left their home and hid in a cave for several months. Jack recalled how scared he was listening to the bombs going off above him and not knowing what would happen next.
He was extremely passionate about politics and would debate for hours. Although Ann was the cook in her house, Jack was the grill master. He would grill the perfect steak. Jack passed down his secrets and tips to Pat.
