Carmela Tilaro Baggiano, 95, of Elliott Avenue, Jamestown, passed away on May 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in Buffalo General Medical Center.
She was born in Jamestown on November 6, 1922, the daughter of Mario and Mary Treccarichi Tilaro. She had worked at the National Worsted Mills, Jamestown Plywood Co., and Jamestown Lounge Co. During World War II she was a "Rosie the Riveter" at the Art Metal Co.
Carmela is survived by her sons William Baggiano, with whom she lived for over 25 years and Maurice "Moe" (Karen) Baggiano of Jamestown, and two grandchildren, Christian of Austin, TX and Ana-Nicole of Charlottesville, VA.
Her family was the center of her life. Family picnics at Allegany State Park, holiday celebrations and Sunday dinners at home always brought her joy. Carmela's grace and quiet resolve provided strength and comfort to family and friends alike.
Three sisters, Connie Paterniti DePetro, Angeline LaMarca, and Marian DiGregorio, and a brother, Sebastian Tilaro, preceded her in death. Her husband of 44 years, Biaggio "Bill" Baggiano passed away on January 14, 1995.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 21 in St. James Catholic Church, Jamestown, NY. Burial will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery immediately following mass.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, May 20, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 111 S. Main St., Jamestown, NY.
