Dear Doris, Rick and Dawn, Carl Jean, Janet and families. I am so very sorry for your loss. Uncle Sam ( my Godfather) was a huge part of my youth. I was also blessed to have been reconnected for many years through you Doris, his loving wife. He will be remembered with my fondness and respect. Grief, I've learned is really just love. It's all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers up in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, and in that hollow part of your chest. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with you. I will have a mass said here in Florida at my church, St. Christopher's, in Hope Sound for your husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather in his memory. Blessings and love, Lorraine

I remember running through the hills of carpet rolls and sneaking out back to the storeroom to get the best donuts that Uncle Sam brought from Ecklof Bakery. My brother and I were constantly depleting the ink from the typewriter, and pressing buttons on the cash register. Uncle Sam and my grandfather, Lorry, never seemed to mind. After my grandfather passed, I was always comforted by seeing or hearing about Uncle Sam because they looked and sounded so much alike. I am deeply sorry Rick and Dawn. God bless you and your family, and I will pray for peace and comfort in your time of loss. Gina, Joe and family.
