Joseph John Swiderski, Jr., 87, passed away peacefully at home residing with daughter Shirley Swiderski on Tuesday, August 25, in Busti, New York. Joe was born February 23, 1939, in Corry, Pennsylvania to Joseph J. Swiderski, Sr. and Emma M. Swiderski (née Spickler). Joe graduated from Jamestown High School in 1959 before serving honorably as a radioman in the United States Navy achieving the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class on the U.S.S. Johnston patrolling the Mediterranean Sea waters and later aboard the U.S.S. Dyess during the Vietnam War era.

Joe worked for General Electric in Erie, PA as an electrician, and as a telephone install and repairman, and line technician in Jamestown, NY, and throughout Pennsylvania and North Carolina. Joe enjoyed traveling and visiting national parks and historic monuments throughout the continental U.S., and he resided in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Montana, and New York.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister Joanne Laird, brothers John and Jerome Swiderski, and grandson Ricky Swiderski. Joe is survived by former wife Patricia Bly (née Cardone), former wife Diane Miniger, and lifelong friend Roberta Rosage; son Joseph Swiderski III and wife Bambi Swiderski (née Bull), daughter Shirley Swiderski, son William Swiderski, son David Swiderski and wife Patricia Swiderski (née Dunn), step-daughter Sharon VanStry, and step-son Donald VanStry; granddaughter Ashley Swiderski, grandson Aaron Swiderski and wife Stephanie Even, granddaughters Maya Swiderski and Serena Swiderski, and grandson Nate Muro (and Megan); and great-grandsons Theo and Jack, and great-granddaughters Brielle and Genevieve.

Joe was a volunteer Fire Chief, Union leader, American Legion member, member of the International Machinist Association, a lifelong Catholic attending mass at St. James, Jamestown, NY and St. Mary of Lourdes, Mayville and Bemus Point, NY.

Joe enjoyed the outdoors, farming and gardening, building and fixing, practical jokes, fishing and hunting, playing the slots and scratch offs, and reading western fiction novels.

Joe loved the western states and dreamed to return to Montana and Wyoming.

A memorial service is scheduled from 11:00am - 1:00pm on Friday, September 18, 2026 with a Catholic Prayer service immediately following at Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home, 111 South Main Street, Jamestown, New York. A burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery at 2:00pm. All are welcome to a repass downstairs at St. James RCC following the graveside service.
