Josephine Steele, 86 of Jamestown passed away on November 18, 2025, at UPMC Chautauqua. She was born on October 9, 1939, in Jamestown to Anthony and Carmella DiStefano Ditonto.

After graduating Jamestown High School Josephine married her husband Edward Steele on November 10, 1962, at St. James RCC. She worked for Rockman’s Super Duper, WCA Hospital and Sanitary Wiping Cloth.

Josephine liked to crochet and loved to spend the holidays with family and friends. She will be deeply missed.

Josephine is survived by her children, Deborah (Joseph) Caruso and Daniel (Danette) Steele, her grandchildren, Chelsea (Brett) Lanphere, Brandon (Jennie) Caruso, Morgan Steele and Hannah Steele, and her great grandchildren, Emerson Lanphere and Scarlett Lanphere.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Edward Steele in 2003 and her brother, Alexander Ditonto in 2023.

A Visitation will be held on Friday November 21, 2025, from 6pm-8pm at Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday November 22, 2025, 11AM at St. James RCC Jamestown NY.

Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery Jamestown NY.
