Jeanette Farmer Obituary

In Loving Memory of Jeanette Marjorie Farmer

June 10, 1958 – July 12, 2025.

Born in Islip, New York, Jeanette Marjorie Farmer was a true ray of sunshine from the very beginning. She entered this world as a fraternal twin, alongside her beloved sister Georgette Farmer, on June 10, 1958. Jeanette was the cherished daughter of Doris Gray Farmer and grew up surrounded by the love of her siblings: sisters Meretta Smith, Darlene Farmer, and Josette Smith, and brothers Alfred Farmer, Joe Farmer, and Leonard Smith.

Jeanette spent her early years in Bellport, New York, and later moved to Patchogue, where she began to build a family of her own. Her greatest joy and pride were her children—Tydina Lucien, Christina Lucien, and Laval Farmer. No matter the circumstances, her love for them was unwavering and endless.

A Special Acknowledgment

Without the help of Mama Ollie I truly don't know what would have happened to my kids. In a time when I needed support the most, she stepped in with love, strength, and guidance. I will always be grateful for the way she cared for them—and even more so for how she made sure I stayed connected with my children.

Thank you, Ollie Lucien. Your kindness and loyalty will never be forgotten.

Later in life, Jeanette moved to Brooklyn, New York, where she worked faithfully for the New York Department of Education as a custodian, serving with dedication for many years. Her journey then led her to Jamestown, New York, where she spent the last 15 years of her life.

Jeanette was known by all as a joyful, happy-go-lucky woman who brought light and laughter wherever she went. A true "Dancing Machine"—you only had to play a song, and she’d be on her feet, moving with energy and joy. Her smile, her humor, and her warmth touched everyone who met her.

But above all else, Jeanette loved her family. Her children, her siblings, and all those dear to her always came first in her heart.

As we say goodbye, we honor her favorite song—an anthem of light and love that perfectly reflected her spirit:

"This Little Light of Mine, I'm Gonna Let It Shine... Let It Shine, Let It Shine, Let It Shine."

Her light will continue to shine in all of us.
