Henry Lee Wesley, 80 of 200 Whitehill Ave, Jamestown, NY went to be with the Lord to rest in eternal peace on Sunday July 6, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 19, 1945 in Wilson, South Carolina to William Maner and Lena Wesley. Henry married the love of his life, Jean Jeffers on November 5, 1994.
Henry is survived by 5 brothers, 3 sisters, his uncle, Willie Smith several cousins, nieces and nephews, best friend of 40 years Thomas Claus, advocate Deseree Johnson, close friends Reginald Smith, Britnie Barmore, Surma Ayuso and all of the loved ones from The Resource Center.
Henry was an amazing man and a well-respected advocate throughout NY state for people who have disabilities. He was a proud and strong man that was able to live his life to the fullest.
He came to The Resource Center in 1987 after living at Willowbrook for 23 years. He then met the love of his life Jean, whom he married and resided with. He was a staff trainer for The Resource Center for many years. He shared what he called “The Henry Wesley Story” that referred to the challenges he faced in the beginning of his life to a life of advocacy for himself and people with disabilities. He received numerous awards for the many accomplishments he had in life. The “Exceptional Personal Growth” award, the 2002 NYS Senate Achievers award to name a few, symposiums at Chautauqua Institute, numerous conferences, and presentations at JCC.
Henry enjoyed going on trips, attending church, his computer, listening to music, watching the kids play soccer across the street, going to the zoo with Tom, bird watching, and sitting on the patio with his friends.
Arrangements entrusted to Riccardi’s Hubert Funeral Home. Friends and family will be welcomed for visitation on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 11a-12p, funeral service 12p-1p, officiated by Pastor Reginald Smith at Blackwell Chapel AME Zion Church. Burial to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery Lakewood, NY. Memorial contributions can be made to the Audubon Community Nature Center, Chautauqua County Humane Society, and Chautauqua Hospice & Palliative Care.
