Dave was the assistant manager of Walgreens and prior to that he had been employed with Quality Markets, Rite Aid and Bells Superstore. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing Dave knows he loved to hunt in the woods and tell stories. He strived to be his best self and you’d often hear him say things like “plan your work and work your plan, sharpen the axe, and wear good boots”. His philosophy in life centered around the “10/90”, 10% in life are things you can't control and 90% of life is how you deal with things in the 10% of life. Dave lived each day to the fullest and was always working his 90% His positive attitude and energy will be missed by many. Surviving are his wife of 7 years Sylvia A. Emerling, 3 children, Andreau “Drew” Emerling (Emily) , Adam “AJ” Emerling (Danielle) Alexandrea “Alex” (Mike) Davis , 3 grandsons, Avery, Jack and Rhys Emerling along with his sister Sharon Emerling, his mother, Marge Emerling, his sister in law and brother in law, Pamela and Jim Mistretta and his niece and nephew, Jessica and Jimmy Mistretta. Also surviving are many aunts, uncles and cousins. Due to COVID19 restrictions a private service will be held in the Hubert Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held at a time determined by the family. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or Chautauqua County Hospice.
