Donald Lee Marker, crossed over to join his beloved parents and family on Monday, January 23, 2017 at Heritage Park Rehab & skilled Nursing at the age of seventy seven. Don was born in Jamestown on Dec. 23, 1939 the son of the late Alfred Andrew and Charlotte Harriett Walsh Gruver Marker. Don was a lifelong resident of Jamestown where is family immigrated from Ronne, Bornholm, Denmark in 1910. All of his life, Don loved music. He loved to listen, play the piano and sing. He once restored a grand piano. Don was also an avid genealogist and had a passion for connecting his family. His interest for family history developed on a trip to Bornholm, Denmark for a family reunion where he built lifelong relationships with his extended family in Europe. These relationships continue beyond his life as he introduced and encouraged both sides of the family to correspond and keep the family connection alive. In 1961 Donald was baptized by his father in to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which he served as an Elder in the church and continued in membership up until his death. Early in his adult life, Don briefly lived in Salt Lake City Utah where he worked on Temple Square for his church. He returned to Jamestown to care for aging parents in 1972, where he lived for the remainder of his life. He is survived by a brother, Herbert Charles Marker, ten nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a half- brother, Kenneth LaVerne Marker (Virginia Dalton Marker) and two half- sisters, Ebba Pauline Marker and Harriett Alfred Elizabeth Marker Long (Donald Long). A graveside service will be held at noon Friday in Lake View Cemetery. Visitation will not be observed. The Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services is in charge of arrangements.
