Larry R. Newton, 75, of Jamestown, died Friday (December 30, 2016) at UPMC Hamot, Erie, Pa. He was born in Olean, N.Y. on December 8, 1941. Larry was employed as a welder at Jamestown Metal Products for forty years. He served in the US Army in Vietnam and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Antique Automobile Car Club of America. Larry is survived by a son, Scott R. (Jennifer) Newton, Sanford, N.C. and a daughter, Laura J. Newton, Plantation, Fl., two grandchildren, Malachi and Zachary Newton, Sanford, N.C. and a sister, Judy Brightman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Sapienza Newton whom he married on June 10, 1967 in St. James Catholic Church and who died on May 27, 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church. Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 2:45 p.m. You may send a condolence to the family by visiting www.hubertfuneral home.com.
