Obituary of Josephine Volpe Grenier

Josephine Volpe Grenier, 87, of Jamestown, died at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday (November 1, 2016) in the Lutheran Home. She was born in Jamestown on October 11, 1929 the daughter of Peter and Ann Merchant Campesi. Prior to her retirement, she was a self employed hairdresser for twenty eight years. She had worked at Tina’s Beauty shop and later at the Hair Station. In earlier years, she worked at Empire Worsted Mills, Dodson Jewelers and Chautauqua Hardware. She was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a former member of St. James Catholic Church and the Altar & Rosary Society. She was also a former member of the Lakewood Rod & Gun Club Auxiliary and Sunset Valley Golf Club. Josephine is survived by two sons, Peter J. (Patty) Volpe, Lakewood and Paul G. (Laurie) Volpe, Jamestown, Two step daughters, Gaylee (Robert) Barnard, Madison Wisconsin and Karen (Ronald) Kujawa, Findley, Oh., six grandchildren, Paul F. Volpe, New York City, Matthew W. Volpe, Cortland, N.Y., Megan E. Volpe, Bemus Point, N.Y., Kaylee A. Volpe, Jamestown, Jessica A. Volpe, Rochester, N.Y. and F. John Volpe, Lakewood, N.Y., two great granddaughters, Mackenna Serrett, Rochester and Annabelle Herman, Bemus Point, N.Y., a brother, Sebastian Campesi, San Antonio, Tx. She was preceded in death by her first husband Frank “Buddy” Volpe whom she married on April 29, 1950 and who died on March 16, 1978 and by her second husband, Joseph Grenier whom she married on September 28, 1985 and who died on July 22, 2006 and by two sisters, Ann and Gertrude Spitale. A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday at the Hubert Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Rev. Dan Rumfelt, Chaplain of the Lutheran Home, will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
