Obituary of Clara Savoca Spano

Clara Savoca Spano, 90, of Centerville, Oh., formerly of 25 Collins Ave., Jamestown, died at 2:00 p.m. Monday (November 29, 2010) in the Avalon Nursing Home, Centerville. She was born in Jamestown on September 1, 1920 the daughter of Charles and Clara Calavitta Savoca. Clara was a 1938 graduate of Jamestown High School and was employed in the packing department of Truck Lite for fifteen years, retiring in 1982. She was previously employed as the office manager of the former Galore Pizza and a sales clerk at the former Bigelow Department Store. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a member of the Altar & Rosary Society and worked at the St. Joseph Table, a member of the Marco Polo Club Auxiliary and a volunteer at the WCA Hospital. Clara is survived by her daughter JoAnn Spitale, Centerville, Oh., a son James (Suzanne) Spano, Lakeland, Fl., four granddaughters Alyssa Spitale, Phoenix, Az., Amy (Brian) Benson, Mt. Dora, Fl., Jennifer Spano, Tampa, Fl. and Nicole (Lionel) Hebert Sorrento, Fl., Two great grandchildren, a sister Angeline Muzzo, Lakewood, N.Y.. She was preceded in death by her husband James V. Spano whom she married on August 16, 1947 in St. James Catholic Church and who died on December 13, 2004, a brother Charles Savoca and a sister Carolyn Muzzo who died on February 3, 2001. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday in St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. Darrell G. Duffy, pastor, will be the celebrant. Entombment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Friends will be received on Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. in the Hubert Funeral Home And Cremation Services. An Altar & Rosary Society Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service will be held at 5:30 p.m. To send a condolence to the family log on to www.hubertfuneralhome.com..
