Alfred C. Beardsley, 89, of Chandlers Valley, died May 3, 2010 at the Rouse Warren Co. Home. He was born November 2, 1920 in Newtontown, Pa. a son of the late Fred Beardsley and Amy (Lobdell) Beardsley Webster. A life long resident of the area, Alfred served in the US Army in Antwerp Belgium and also Germany during WW II, where he obtained the rank of Corporal. He retired from Larimer & Newton Wood Products Inc., where he had worked as a tube saw operator He was a member of the Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church, the Halgren-Wilcox American Legion Post #658 in Youngsville, the Sugar Grove AmVets Club, and he enjoyed cutting fence posts, gardening. bowling. pitching horseshoes, playing pool and hunting. He is survived by 3 sons; Gilbert Beardsley, Lakewood, NY; Glen Beardsley, Jamestown, NY; Gary Beardsley, Lisbon Falls, Maine, a sister Bessie Shaffer, Spartansburg, Pa., 2 grandchildren his former wife Kay (Britton Beardsley and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Gerald Beardsley,Gerald's wife and a grandson; 2 brothers; Velmour and Clair Beardsley, and a long time companion Dorothy Beedle. Friends may call on Tuesday from 6-8 at the Hubert-Lewis Funeral Home Inc., 314 N. Main St, Youngsville. A funeral service will be conducted there on Wednesday at 11:00am with the Rev. Marcus Briggs, Chaplain of the Rouse Warren Co. Home officiating. Burial will follow in the Garland Presbyterian Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church, Rt 69, Chandler's Valley, Pa.16312, or to the Friends of the Rouse, 701 Rouse Ave., Youngsville Pa. 16371.
